  All Day BENEFIT FUND FOR ANDREA POCKLINGTON   24 year old Andrea Pocklington and her boyfriend David Grice were murdered Monday, December 31st in Springfield, IL. Investigation on-going-no suspect/s identified. Andrea was 7 months pregnant. The baby did not survive. Andrea was shot in the head and stabbed multiple times. Her surviving 3 children and her family need not only your love, concern, and prayers; but great financial assistance. The 7 year old daughter had advanced stage cerebral palsy, a severe respiratory disease and a recent stroke. She cannot walk, talk, eat by mouth, or even rollover in bed. She required customizeds bed and chair equipment, liquid feeding tubes and food, and diapers. The 3 children are now in Carlinville at their Grandmother's home where they will live. The disabled 7 year olds customized equipment was moved today to Carlinville by Home Health Care at no charge. Sangamon County Victom Advocacy Program is going to help with funeral reimbursement to Davis Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville...AFTER the family deposits more than $3,000.00 to the Funeral Home. The entire family needs your concern and assistance for funeral expenses, clothes, food, money, whatever you can help with. The children survivors are the 7 yr old disabled girl-needs childgren large size depends, clotes size 6-7, and heavy slipper sox as she cannot wear shoes.   All Day Soup Supper & Silent Auction Benefit   The Mount Pulaski United Methodist Church invites you to a Soup Supper and Silent Auction on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 4pm to 7pm. Event to be held at The United Methodist Church (303 E. Jefferson St, Mount Pulaski, IL).

The proceeds of the Soup Supper will go to the Youth Group and Church Camps. The proceeds of the Silent Auction will be donated for the medical expenses of Annabelle Phillips. She was born with a very aggressive, malignant tumor encompassing her brain stem. Hospice care is allowing Annabelle to remain comfortably at home with with her family.

  All Day “Give a Little Love” campaign   The “Give a Little Love” campaign is taking place at area McDonald’s restaurants from Tuesday, January 22 through Valentine’s Day on Thursday, February 14. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois (RMHCCI) invites local residents to participate and “Give a Little Love” by donating $1 or more and your name will be written on a heart to be displayed at McDonald’s. 100% of the proceeds will stay in central Illinois and directly benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield, IL. RMHCCI exists to provide a supportive home away from home for families with children receiving medical care in Springfield, Illinois. Ronald McDonald House offers a good night's sleep, hot meals, and everything needed to keep parents' lives as simple as possible while they tend to the important task at hand: devoting all of their love and support to helping their child get well. RMHCCI is a 501(c)3 charity and could not provide a home away from home to over 300 families each year without the wonderful support of the central Illinois community. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend and learn about health while engaging in literacy activities. The event will include books, crafts, games and healthy living tips. This annual event is free and open to the public. The Junior League of Springfield (JLS) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Since 1939, JLS has contributed over one million dollars and one million volunteer service hours to the Springfield area community. Guy Sternberg, arborist, retired landscape architect, and owner of Starhill Forest Arboretum will discuss the shady past and current management of trees on Saturday, January 26 at 2 p.m. in the Garden’s Nature Center. He will present general information on trees and give advice on what can be done to help trees survive.
 
  7:30PM 10:00PM Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra- Pure Passion   The Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra launches a new hour-long “Happy Hour” concert format for its upcoming performances of Pure Passion on Friday, January 25th at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Springfield and on Saturday, January 26th at 7:30 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. Also new will be “Talk Back” sessions with Mr. Willis and the audience following the 7:30 p.m. performances both evenings. Come dance the night away with the dance music of Copland and Golijov along with a little sigh by Elgar! Tickets for the Springfield concert on Friday, January 25, 2013 are available by calling 217-206-6160.
