Corey Taylor - Frontman of Stone Sour and Slipknot was interviewed for the "Beacon Moment" which is a video series that asks musicians to relate an experience or event that changes their view of life towards music.
Corey's moment came when he was 19. After the end of a relationship, he downed a bottle a pills. Ex-girlfriend's mom found Corey and took him to the ER, where they sucked out the stuff from his stomach. Grandma took Corey home and as he layed back on the couch, the MTV Music Award were on... that's when he saw the band that changed his life.
It was Faith No More performing "Epic"
“That moment was when I really figured out that it’s not about what you can give, but what you can get from your music and from your live performances. You can get something as you’re giving. I never felt a moment like that until that moment. It completely turned me around.”
If you're interested, other recent Beacon Moment features include Escape The Fate, Deftones, and Lacuna Coil.
