The Super Bowl Halftime Show has been, let's face facts, rather lacking since the whole Janet Jackson incident. It's always a separate entity from the the actual game.
Ok, I know I just sounded like a hardcore football fan but nothing in the recent string of Halftime performances has struck me. Great, we had Red Hot Chili Peppers for ONE SONG last year while pop start Bruno Mars was the focus. There's just nothing that peaks my interest musically there. So when I read this, I signed it.
Fans have an online petition at Change.org to get 'Weird Al' Yankovic to be the performer at Super Bowl 49. Not surprisingly enough, at the time of this posting, over 49,000 people have signed it.
The petition reads:
For decades Weird Al has entertained fans, young and old, with his popular clever parodies and unique sense of humor. Having him headline the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show. would not only be overly accepted by the millions of views, but it would remain true to the standards and quality of the show business we have come to love and respect out of this prestigious event.
The songs of artists that he is parodying could join him on stage to accompany, as well as other surprise appearances from well-known actors/actresses, adding more prestige and star power. The theatrics alone would be hilarious and a welcoming change, and draw a wider audience of fans that typically would not tune into the championship game or half-time show.
Can't tell me that it wouldn't be an entertaining show, right? If you feel the same, CLICK HERE to sign the petition.
