It was a gun, not cancer
It’s official: Ronnie Montrose killed himself. The official word comes from the coroner as reported in the San Francisco Chronicle. They’re also reporting that he had a blood alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit. The news had originally said that the guitarist had died of cancer, but that truth has changed. There was no note left by Ronnie but family members posted on RonnieMontrose.com that they hope fans understand their desire to keep the “devastating truth” private for so long so people could focus on his life and his music and not how he died.
Confirmed for festival
If you’re a Sabbath fan, you should make plans to hit up the upcoming Lollapalooza this August in Chicago. The band has been confirmed to play the three day music festival in Grant Park. A US tour was planned, but that has been put on hold as guitarist Tony Iommi continues cancer treatment. Some history: The rejection from Lollapalooza to put Ozzy on the bill 15 years ago is what caused Ozzy and Sharon to form Ozzfest. So things are coming around full circle. Early bird tickets for the show are currently on sale.
