The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this past weekend was everything you thought it would be: glitz and glam, live performances, and a couple of no shows. There was a bunch of talk in the weeks leading up to the ceremony in Cleveland that there was gonna be fireworks with the induction of Guns N’ Roses. Those fireworks turned out be duds as Axl didn’t even show up. The other members of the band, past and present, showed up including Slash, and they performed with Alter Bridge front man Myles Kennedy singing. When Green Day inducted the band, Billie Joe Armstrong named all the members of GN’R but skipped over Axl Rose saying “who am I missing?” The crowd booed and Armstrong told them to shut up. Later in the ceremony, Chris Rock joked that even if Axl had planned on coming he would not have been there by then poking fun at Alx regular bout with tardiness.
Only two Beasties
Another no-show was Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys. No reason was given, but Yauch has been battling cancer of the salivary gland. There was not a Beastie Boys performance.
Chili Peppers ain't done yet
The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed at the Rock Hall induction. Chris Rock introduced the band as the “baddest live band in the world.” Anthony Kiedis said that it’s nice to go into the Rock Hall when they’re still a current band. Kiedis also said that they’re only half-way through their career. Then Flea got all metaphysical saying that when he gets into the groove he gets lost and when he’s lost he is truly free.
