WQLZ Music Minute

Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop

Knotfest

It’s their own kind of festival and they will do what they want—even if that means only having two dates. Slipknot is planning Knotfest, featuring Slipknot, Deftones, Serj Tankian, Lamb of God and others. There are only two shows planned. One in Council Bluffs, Iowa August 17th and the other outside Minneapolis August 18th. Of course the lineup is pretty heavy and worth the trek, but something else the festival will feature: nightmarish stilt-walkers, fire-breathers, junkyard car drum circles and amusement park rides. Hopefully this turns into an annual tradition that has expanded dates in the years to come … because that just sounds bad ass! You can get more info at knotfest.com.

Rise Above Fest

There’s another fest that may interest you. Seether’s Shawn Morgan has formed a festival that will raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention. It’s an important issue for Morgan because his brother killed himself five years ago. The Rise Above Fest will feature Seether, Buckcherry, Puddle of Mudd and Black Stone Cherry for one show in New Hampshire September 3rd. You can get more details on that tour online at seether.com.

The Industrialist out today

It’s new music Tuesday, which means that you’ll be able to pick up the latest Fear Factory album The Industrialist, which is a concept album. This will be the band’s 8th studio album. You can preview the album online at fearfactory.com or with the Youtube player below:
