After working with Lou Reed on the widely criticized Lulu collaboration and after touring around the world several times over … PLUS wrapping up a 3D film project, Metallica says they are now going to focus on writing new music. They’re scheduled to enter the studio sometime this September with a new album out next year. When? That’s anyone’s guess right now. One important note—The new Metallica album wouldn’t be under Warner Music where Metallica has been making records since 1984. Death Magnetic was the last album with Warner. A forthcoming attempt will make that album number 10 for the band and could possibly be completely independently released by the band.
Band gets yet another singer
Drowning Pool appears certain that they’ve found a new and permanent singer for the band. The band tapped Jasen Moreno from the Texas band The Suicide Hook to front Drowning Pool—a band that has already gone through three singers in their storied existence. Drowning Pool’s first singer, Dave Williams, was found dead on the band’s tour bus in 2002 from an undiagnosed heart condition. The band then tried out Jason Jones—but ended that relationship in 2004 because of irreconcilable differences. Then they brought on Ryan McCombs who was with the band from 2006 up until last year. McCombs left the band to get back with SOiL. Expect a new Drowning Pool album with the newly tapped Jasen Moreno sometime next year.
