They put out a hugely successful record which was accompanied by an amazing documentary and acclaimed tour. Hell, the band even gave select fans in certain cities their own garage performances. Now Dave Grohl says that he’s not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again. They’re not breaking up, but a hiatus is in order. Grohl says that’s how the band keeps it together—they all have to go away for a while. Not sure what other members are up to, but Grohl says that he’s gonna finish up his Sound City documentary about the studio where he and a bunch of other bands have recorded some epic albums.
Mellon Collie goes diamond
Mellon Collie and teh Infinite Sadness
It’s been out for damn near two decades—hell, when did “Zero” and “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” hit the radio? 1995!?! Wow! Well, the epic double-disc Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness from Smashing Pumpkins has been certified Diamond from the Recording Industry Association of America. What that means is that the eclectic album has sold 10 million copies. If you’re looking to boost those numbers even higher, you may want to wait until the remastered version is released December 3rd. Smashing Pumpkins will be at the Chiavetz Arena in St. Louis October 18th.
Metal madness
Wanna know how to give metal a bad rap? If you’re in a band and representing live metal at a Six Flags for the first time—Throw three mic stands into the audience. That’ll win you over some fans! That’s what happened at Six Flags in New Jersey over the weekend. The singer from the band Falling in Reverse was arrested after the incident and is charged with simple assault. That was the first and last metal show at Six Flags. Watch video of the incident below or at this link.
