The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station
There’s a ton to get to, so let’s blow through it.
First time for everything
First up, AC/DC fans will finally be able to download their tunes through iTunes. The Aussie rockers were one of the last great rock groups to hold out on the digital download service provided by Apple. Columbia Records says 16 of AC/DC’s studio albums will now be available to download from iTunes worldwide.
Cobain in his prime
Cobain doc out in 2014
There’s a new documentary about the life of Kurt Cobain in the works, and thankfully Courtney Love isn’t the person who initiated the film … or is she? Director Brett Morgan, who recently made a successful documentary about the Rolling Stones titled Crossfire Hurricane, says he’s in the beginning stages of piecing together the Cobain documentary for a 2014 release date. He also says that he’s been working with Love since 2007 on ideas. Cripes! The movie could be a kind-of third-person autobiography, as if Kurt was making the movie about himself.
Projected February release
There are a few projects to tell you about. Firstly, Maynard’s Puscifer has a new EP titled Donkey Punch the Night set to drop February 19th. One of the songs on the release will be a cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Another February release to give you a heads up is the side project from Disturbed’s front man David Draimen and Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo. With the band name Device, the first single will be titled Vilify. That’s due out in February with a full length release out sometime in April.
