Coheed and Cambria have released a new video for their latest single “The Hard Sell,” following a trend from a ton of other artists who seem to be copping out and hiring some dude with a fancy text generating program instead of getting a high-priced director to put out a concept video. The tune will be on the second installment of the bands Aftermath concept albums. A box set, featuring both concept albums and a 64-page book will be available late January.
Tapping Grohl
Soundgarden is enlisting the directing capabilities of Dave Grohl for the video of their forthcoming single “By Crooked Steps.” The song is one of the more straightforward rock songs on the new album, so that in combo with Grohl, it should be worth the wait. How long do we wait? Not sure … a release date has yet to be announced.
Chick talk
Some heavy hitting female rockers are taking part in a special series being put out by The Grammys. The Twitter QnA featuring Halestorms’ Lizzy Hale and In This Moment’s Maria Brink can be seen by checking out Twitter.com/TwitterMusic. It’s an effort to hype up the increasingly irrelevant Grammy Awards which will be held February 10th.
Heading to the studio
Garbage is gearing up to hit the studio after the release of their successful album Not Your Kind of People. Drummer and famed rock producer Butch Vig tells Rolling Stone Magazine that the band will hit the studio in January and February. Front woman Shirley Manson says that the band will be taking a new approach. Instead of working on an entirely new album, they will release a few new songs here and there and tour extensively.
