Scaccia dies on stage

It’s never good news when a band member dies. It’s especially never good news when that band member dies on stage while performing. That’s what happened over the holiday weekend to Ministry guitarist Mike Scaccia while he was performing with his other band down in Fort Worth, Texas. It’s reported that Scaccia was having a seizure onstage when he was performing with Rigor Mortis. Authorities ruled the 47-year-old’s death a sudden heart attack due to heart disease. Ministry front man Al Jourgensen says he lost his little brother and his best friend. He says that “Life without Mikey is like orange juice without pulp – kind of bland.”

Next album to be big

They’re headed into the studio next month to begin recording their new album and front man M. Shadows says the forthcoming Avenged Sevenfold attempt will have much bigger riffs. He tells the UK’s NME magazine that the band is working to ensure every song has some big guitar riffs and heavy grooves. There’s no word on an expected release date.

More songs in the can

Megadeth says they’re a few songs deep into their next album. Front man Dave Mustaine says that the band has already recorded three songs and is in the process of getting the rest of a new album pieced together. There’s no expected release date to the follow up of Megadeth’s Th1rt3en, which was released earlier this year and sold just over 40,000 copies in its first week.

Planned tour

The Black Crows are ending their hiatus with a tour in the New Year. After saying they would take an indefinite hiatus no long ago, the band has announced they’ll play a handful of dates in the UK before coming over the US for a 21-city tour. They’ll be in Chicago at the Vic April 16th and 17th and in St. Louis at The Pageant April 19th.

Papa Roach live

Later this week, Papa Roach will be featured on Guitar Center’s Guitar Center Sessions. There’s a preview clip online showing the band performing the song “Getting Away with Murder.” The band will be featured performing live this Friday exclusively for Direct TV subscribers on the Audience channel. Check your local listings.
