Metallica's James rocking the stage and looking forward to Orion 2013
Home base Detroit
The site has been claimed for the second annual Orion Music + More Festival. Metallica will take their two day rock/carnival-type festival to the Belle Isle in Detroit. Apparently, that will be the location for the next few Orion festivals. The Detroit City Council agenda has a contract on that location for up to 2015 with Orion. With nearly 1,000 acrs of land, Belle Isle is located right next to the Canadian border, so it’s sure to be an excellent venue for a summertime festival. The 2013 Orion Music + More Festival is scheduled for June 8-9th.
Michaels cameo
“Bret Michaels slider still in beta,” that’s the final line of a new commercial featuring the Poison front man. The ad features a couple sitting on a couch with a laptop checking their credit at a credit checking website. The site touts their new Score Planner with sliders that changes your credit score for different variables. On the site featured in the commercial there’s a “Bret Michaels Slider.” When they tweak that, Michaels appears in their living room singing “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.” Gimmicky, but funny. Watch that below or at this link.
Playing Sin City
The Black Keys have had one hell of a 2012 and now they plan on ringing in the New Year with a show in Las Vegas. Monday night the duo will be performing for the first time in Sin City, and they say they’re gonna bring with them several musicians to perform on stage. Typically, the two piece band has to deconstruct their songs when performing live. Having a few more musicians on stage to perform helps them keep the songs close to how they were recorded. In 2012, The Black Keys exploded across rock radio with hit after hit. They’re also up for a bunch of Grammy awards. Let’s not forget to mention the lawsuit they filed against Home Depot and Pizza Hut, plus the ill will they sent towards Nickelback. Way to keep it classy, guys!
Motorheadphones
The New Year will welcome some new headgear from Motorhead, of all people. January 8th, the band will unveil their new headphones they’re dubbing Motorheadphones … get it? Ha! They claim the new Motorheadphones have a bombastic sound that is 6 to 10 times more powerful than regular headphones. Too bad it’s after Christmas. They missed the boat on that one.
