Rocking out next week

It’s gonna be a crazy, but big week next week for rock fans in Springfield. Coming to Boondocks Wednesday is Pop Evil with Otherwise. Then Thursday it’s Brian “Head” Welch’s band Love and Death opening up for In This Moment at Boondocks and QLZ has tickets and a chance to meet and greet the band! Be listening for your chance to win. On top of that, we’ll bring you Maria Brink on the air Monday afternoon with Lars and Lytle and “Head” will be in studio Thursday before the show! Be sure to keep it on QLZ for the giveaways, the interviews and the in-studio performances.

Discounted tickets

Don’t forget to get your tickets for QLZ’s 20th Birthday Bash at the Prairie Capital Convetion Center. They go up to $37 dollars after tomorrow. So get to the box office and walk out the door today with your tickets at only $27 a pop. That’s Shinedown with special guest Bush and Airebourn May 7th at the PCCC with Springfield’s Concert Leader, 92.7 QLZ.

Playing Sturgis

Halestorm is gonna rock Sturgis. News has it that the band will be playing for a ton of bad ass bikers at the 2013 Sturgis Buffalo Chip Motorcycle Rally and Music Festival August 4th in South Dakota. The band will be opening up for ZZ Top. An organizer with the event said that Halestorm is unstoppable, and their recent Grammy Award proves that. Kid Rock is also set to rock the stage at Sturgis, as is Sublime with Rome. So all you bikers planning your summer time treks, be sure to put Sturgis on that list. Sturgis runs from August 2nd through the 11th.

New album in the works

AC/DC is working on new material. That’s according to band bassist Cliff Williams. The band isn’t in the studio at the moment, but the Brother Young (Angus and Malcolm) are working on piecing together new riffs for new songs. This will be the first album from the band since 2008’s Black Ice. No word yet on a possible release date.
