Remember that commercial for some girls toys that featured a parody of the Beastie Boy’s tune “Girls”. Remember when that commercial had tens of millions of views before it was taken offline. Remember all the free publicity the company got because of the controversy? Well the company, GoldieBlox is back in the news after they came to terms with the Beastie Boys. It’s reported the agreement to dismiss the claim was filed this week in district court over in California, but no details about the agreement were released. The company posted the video, got sued by the Beastie Boys, then turned around and sued the Beastie Boys, then took down their video and now months later all seems to be resolved, but we’re still in the dark as to how, exactly.
Rock Hall on KISS
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is doubling down on not letting newer members of KISS get inducted this April. The CEO of the Rock Hall, Joel Peresman tells Billbaord that choosing who to induct isn’t an exact science and it’s a decision made by the nominating committee, music scholars and music historians. KISS is unique because they portray characters on stage and other musicians portray characters created by original members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. KISS front man Paul Stanley says there are six other musicians that have since been with the band that helped direct their future, but they’re not being inducted. There were also questions about whether a former drummer from Nirvana would be inducted, and that is also not going to happen. The induction ceremony is April 10th in New York.
