Cobain Case Reopened?, Free Agent, and Chevelle's New Tune

Cobain Case Reopened?

“Despite an erroneous news report,” the Seattle Police Department “have not ‘reopened’ the investigation into the suicide of Kurt Cobain.” That’s the message posted to Twitter from Seattle 5-0. A “detective reviewed the case file anticipating questions surrounding the closed Cobain case as the 20 yr anniversary approaches,” is another message posted to Twitter by Seattle’s men in blue. With this news comes a new photo from the crimes scene that’s never been made public before until this week. Seattle news media are reporting that police developed some police-shot film from the crime scene, and though they won’t release all the pictures, one that did get released shows Cobain’s heroin kit on the ground opened up, a pair of sunglasses and a burnt-to-the-butt cigarette. There also appears to be a towel of some sort.

The macabre details are enclosed in an interview with a cold case detective from Seattle police who says he wanted to clear up any uncertainty or conspiracy theories about the case. Cobain killed himself April 5th of 1994.

Free Agent

After dealing with an alleged $1.5 million in unpaid royalties, alongside other allegations, Evanescense singer Amy Lee says she’s done with her former label Wind-up Records. In a message to fans, the singer said “For the first time in 13 years, I am a free and independent artist.” The whole saga was unveiled earlier this year when the singer and the band claimed Wind-up not only owed a million and a half dollars to the band, but attempted to sabotage the group by hooking them up with under-qualified promoters. Now, with the message posted this week, it seems the light at the end of the tunnel is Lee et al. are free agents, but Lee will be held up later this year because she’s more prego than she was back in January. Best of luck to the family!

Chevelle’s new tune

Chevelle have released a new tune titled “Hunter Eats Hunter.” The track is from the upcoming La Gargola album which is due out April 1st.
