Love for Brockie, Metallica Honors Dio, Aerosmith and Slash to Tour, More Sevendust Dates and Rock USA Billed

Love for Brockie

Reactions are pouring in over the death of Dave Brockie, the lead singer of GWAR. Every rocker from here to the planet GWAR hails from is remembering the artist formerly known as Oderus Urangus as a humble yet extremely creative person with a wit and candor that can’t be matched anywhere else. Twitter feeds and Facebook posts from all kinds of rock stars and music critics are full of memories and sadness at the news of Brockie’s passing. It’s still unclear how Brockie died, but police do not suspect foul play. He was far too young at the age of 50. Brockie started GWAR back in 1984.

Metallica honors Dio

Another new Metallica tune, and this time it’s a medley of several Ronnie James Dio songs. Titled Ronnie Rising (A Tribute to Ronnie James Dio) the 9 minute long song pieced together Dio’s “A Light in the Black,” “Tarot Woman,” “Stargazer,” and “Kill the King.” The tribute album featuring other artists like Anthrax, Killswitch Engage, Corey Tayor and others drops April 1st.

Aerosmith and Slash to tour

Get your tight leather pants and maybe some kind of funky hat and scarf because Aerosmith and Slash are set to tour. Both artists put out tweets late last week saying that the tour was legit and they were waiting on dates to be confirmed. Meanwhile Slash is gearing up for the release of a new disc this September.

More Sevendust dates

Sevendust are adding some dates to their acoustic tour. Dubbed “An Evening With Sevendust,” which typically signifies that it’s just Sevendust and no openers, the tour will be up in Joliet at Mojoes April 25th. They’ll then be at Pops in Sauget May 27th. Sevendust releases their acoustic album Time Travelers & Bonfires April 1st.

Rock USA billed

It may be a bit of a travel but it would definitely be worth it. Rock USA in Wisconsin this summer is set to feature Korn, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch and more than a dozen others. The four day festival is July 16th through the 19th and go on sale April 3rd.
