Firsts for KISS, Streaming Online, and Listener Criticism

Firsts for KISS

There have been some notable firsts this year for a band that’s been around for decades! KISS finally made it onto the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The band is the featured artists for the music and culture mag and the picture getting the front cover is from 1975, which features the classic lineup being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That induction is another first for the band, as having met the criteria for the Rock Hall for over a decade, the band just couldn’t get past the initial nomination process. Sad for KISS fans though, because the band has made it clear that they will not perform during the ceremony. Actually, the reason they’re using a photo from 1975’s lineup is because of the bad blood there seems to still be amongst the original members of the band. Gene Simmons actually came out and said that former members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss “no longer deserve to wear the paint.” The Rock Hall says the original lineup, not the current incarnation, is the group being inducted. That induction ceremony is next month.

Streaming online

Several new albums are streaming online, including the latest Chevelle attempt. Head to iTunes to search out and stream the album which is due out next Tuesday. Titled La Gargola, the band has been giving fans a ton of behind the scenes extras, lifting the curtain a bit into the recording process. Meanwhile Wolfmother are streaming their new album … funny thing is, no one really knew they were working on a new album. The band parted ways with singer Andrew Stockdale last year, but he decided to get back with the band and now their new album New Crown is streaming online. Go figure. A video for the tune “Heavy Weight” is also available for fans online.

Listener criticism

And there are mixed reactions from QLZ listners about the latest Five Finger Death Punch tune and video for the cover of “House of the Rising Sun.” Kenneth says it’s a sh*tty cover by a sh*tty band. Stephanie says it’s an awful remake while Larry just straight up says he loves the band, and loves QLZ. Thanks Larry. We love you too!
