GWAR's Message, Clothing Line, Lollapalooza Snorefest, and Funny Parody

GWAR’s message

The news of GWAR front man Dave Brockie passing is still pretty fresh and quite frankly blows chunks. The band has put out an official statement saying that they appreciate the support from the fans and that they’re awaiting a toxicology report from the medical examiners office to confirm the cause of death. The results could take one to three months, the statement says. Private funeral arrangements have been made. But what’s really cool is there will be a public memorial during the planned GWAR-B-Q scheduled for August 16th at Hadad’s Lake in Richmond, VA. That just so happens to be the town that GWAR landed when they left their home planet of Scum Dog. Rest in Peace, Oderus!

Clothing line

Three Days Grace’s guitarist has been bitten by the fashion bug. Rocker Barry Stock created Mean Clothing Company. He says “mean” means being aggressive … in a positive way, with a take-charge mentality. If you’re looking for a new waredrobe, Mean Clothing will feature t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops, gloves and his or her jewelry. There is also a tacticle line for that military look.

Lollapalooza snorefest

And, if you’re looking for any kind of hard rock or heavy metal at this year’s Lollapalooza festival … forget about it. The Chicago festival August 1st through the 3rd is quite tame. It may be worth the time to check out AFI or maybe The Glitch Mob … or how about Interpol, or Zedd … but will it be worth the single day pass of $100? What about a three day pass for $225? Oh, wait … the early bird tickets are already sold out? Forget about it. Founder and organizer Perry Farrell says this year will “do wonders for” the heart. Yeah, if you’re a tweener pop-tart.

Funny parody

While we’re making fun of music, why not talk about parody? You may have missed Freddy Scott’s parody of a Nine Inch Nails song titled “This Is A Trent Reznor Song” styled after the NIN tune “Copy of A.” The song was posted to the interwebs ealier this year and now the video has surfaced and it’s a parody of NIN’s video for “Closer” from back in 1994. Seek it out and enjoy!
