It’s a tribute that’s sure to go on the top of metal heads’ lists. Earlier this week, Metallica’s 9 minute long song honoring Ronnie James Dio made the rounds online. Now Corey Taylor’s cover of “Rainbow In The Dark” is streaming online. Taylor leads the bill, but he’s backed by Stone Sour and Steel Panther guitarist Satchel. An apparent album cover for the tribute titled This Is Your Life is also making the rounds features a painting of Taylor, Scott Ian from Anthrax, Lizzy Hale, Lemmy from Motorhead, Rob Halford from Judas Priest and even Jack Black is tucked away in the back of the crowd. Dio fans—expect to pick up the tribute album April 1st. Proceeds from the sale go to help out the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
Maybe he’s hoping to ride the coattails of his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame … former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is set to release his new solo album Space Invader. Diehards can pick that album up June 24th. Frehley also will join Zakk Wylde on stage during the Revolver Golden Gods Awards April 23rd.
A Baltimore brewed ale bearing the name Ozzy surely is still delicious, even without being officially allowed to use the moniker. Ozzy Osbourne’s management team has put out a cease-and-desist letter to Brewer’s Art beer for them to stop using the Prince of Darkness’ name on their ale. The can of the ale shows a bat with a clenched fists and the letters OZZY on the fingers, just like Ozzy’s tattoo. The creator of the beer acknowledged he had received the letter but wouldn’t comment further. After all, Ozzy trying to stay clean and sober.
Speaking of booze—Dave Mustaine has his own Vinyard and is now offering up a Cabernet Sauvignon named “Symphony Interrupted.” Limmited quantities are available to US customers only. The $40 a bottle wine is available to purchase from Fallbrook Winery online.
