New AC/DC Album Confirmed, RATM Done, and A7X on Suicide

New AC/DC album confirmed

There will be a new AC/DC album and the band apparently has officially confirmed that founding member Malcolm Young will be taking time away from the band. Though no official timeline has been given, the band is expected to release a new album before the end of the year. They’re actually starting up the recording process this week! The band is traveling to Vancouver to work with record producer Brendan O’Brien. There are already pics posted online showing their equipment all loaded into the studio!

O’Brien has had his hands involved in AC/DC’s last album in 2008, Black Ice. He’s also been involved with a ton of kick ass records, including discs from Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine.

RATM done

Speaking of Rage Against the Machine, drummer Brad Wilk says the last Rage Against the Machine show has likely already been played. Well that blows! Wilk was asked by The Pulse of Radio about the band and he says he’s already come to terms with the fact that the band is done. Wilk recently recorded and toured with Black Sabbath.

A7X on suicide

Avenged Sevenfold have taken to the web with a statement about teen suicide. As is too often the case, suicide, especially when a young person does it, is blamed on music—with heavy metal and rock taking the most criticism. A7X’s statement comes after news of a 16-year-old in the UK is reported to have taken their own life while listening to A7X’s music and watching their videos. The statement from the band says it’s a tragic situation, but they’ve had experts assure them “that there are always many things that go into a tragedy like this, and while music can play a powerful role in someone’s life, it does not cause something like this to happen, especially not alone. Research shows that 90% of those who take their life have a brain illness, or a mental illness, going on at the time of their death. This is something most people don’t want to talk about and that keeps them from getting the good help and treatments that are out there.” AX7 is scheduled with Seether, Hellyeah, and others for The Rise Above Festival May 10th in Maine.
