Sixx Lashes Out at Erna, The Deal, The Lawsuit, and Young to Record

Sixx lashes out at Erna

Nikki Sixx can’t take criticism all too well. The most recent rock star bout isn’t between Sixx and Godsmack’s Sully Erna … now Sixx is taking aim at Stryper’s Michael Sweet. Sweet publicly questioned the validity of Sixx’s autobiography in promoting his new book Honestly: My Life and Stryper Revealed. During an interview Sweet said that his book isn’t as controversial as other books, like Sixx’s autobiography, but “half of what we hear about Motley Crue is B.S. anyway, like when you hear stories about Nikki Sixx dying three times and whatnot. It’s like, ‘How stretched is that?’” Sixx fired back in a Facebook poast saying “Non addicts talking s**t about people who have fought for their live’s to beat their addiction … #MichaelSweet #OhHeHasABookForSale? #GodBlessTheChildrenOfTheBeast #SobrietyRocks #Sad.

The deal

It could be the most convoluted band breakup ever … Queensryche and Geoff Tate are making public their deal to part ways. Here’s the gist: Tate’s shares of the band were bought out. He will only be able to refer to himself as the “original singer of Queensryche” or “formerly of Queensryche” for a couple more years and will only be able to perform tunes from the two Mindcrime albums. The rest of the original lineup still intact will be able to perform whatever they want. Meanwhile the rest of the original band is planning a new album for 2015 and Tate is planning a “farewell to Queensryche” tour. Stone Temple Pilots, Scott Weiland … Are you guys taking notes?

The lawsuit

In other rock star legal drama … former Misfits front man Glenn Danzig is suing bassist Jerry Only for merchandising rights with Hot Topic. Danzig also claims that Only registered trademarks for the band’s merch back in 2000 behind his back. This will get interesting as egos flair.

Young to record

News has it that Stevie Young will be filling in for his uncle Malcolm for a new AC/DC album. Stevie did just this same thing back in 1988. A picture from Ultimate Classic Rock shows Stevie with the band in Vancouver where they’re recording their first album since 2008’s Black Ice.
